Every year, World Immunization Week reminds us of a simple truth: health is a human right. Under the 2025 theme, “Immunization for All is Humanly Possible,” Dandelion Africa proudly joins the global movement to ensure that no child is left behind.
In many of the areas we serve, some health facilities are simply out of reach. Women and children in remote villages cannot afford the long and often costly journeys to health centers. That is why our model is simple but powerful: when facilities are too far, the health services come to the people.
Our Backpack Nurses, equipped with motorbikes, carry essential vaccines, contraceptives, medicines, and maternal and child health supplies directly into the heart of communities. We have established service points in hard-to-reach areas of Nakuru, Baringo, Narok and Kajiado counties— some operating once or twice a month, others opening as often as twice per week — ensuring that health services are available consistently.
In Kajiado County, we have embraced culturally sensitive approaches, such as the Maasai Manyatta Model, to ensure our services are trusted, accepted, and deeply rooted in the communities we serve.
In 2024, Dandelion Africa reached eight sub-counties through our Backpack Nurse services. Thanks to these efforts, 9,487 children under the age of five received life-saving vaccines against diseases like measles, polio, and pneumonia. At the same time, through our Dandelion Africa Medical Centers, we immunized an additional 6,760 children. These numbers tell a powerful story: healthier children, fewer preventable deaths, and stronger, more resilient communities.

“The hospital is very far, we have to walk more than 10 kilometers. We heard vaccines help children, but we didn’t know where to get them. Now, Dandelion Africa has an outreach site near our village. My child got all the vaccines, and she doesn’t fall sick anymore. I’m very happy and thankful.”

This World Immunization Week;
We celebrate every mother who brings her child to be vaccinated.
We celebrate every nurse who rides for miles to deliver hope.
We celebrate every child who now has a healthier future because someone cared enough to reach them.
At Dandelion Africa, we believe that immunization for all is not just a dream; it is happening every single day.
