“It was 4 a.m., and I was on duty at Kabartonjo Subcounty Hospital when we faced a critical situation. A mother who had given birth just two hours earlier suddenly started experiencing severe bleeding.
Although the placenta had been delivered and checked, she became very weak—dizzy, confused, and unable to stand. Her husband had to carry her to the examination bed. She was in danger.”
“We quickly started an IV and gave her more medication to stop the bleeding. When I examined her, I found that a large piece of the placenta was still inside her uterus. We carefully removed it, and thankfully, the bleeding stopped almost immediately.”
“Within a short time, her condition improved. The dizziness and headache went away, and she even managed to walk to her recovery bed with a smile. It was a huge relief for all of us.”
“Looking back, I realize how crucial the Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EMONC) training provided by Dandelion Africa was. The training equipped us with the skills and confidence to handle emergencies like this. Without it, the outcome might have been very different. The support from Dandelion Africa has truly made a life-saving impact here in Baringo County.”
