adminEvery day, 16 women in Kenya lose their lives from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. This is not simply a statistic; it is a mother, a daughter, a sister, a family left behind. Maternal mortality remains one of Kenya’s most urgent public health crises, and it is a crisis we cannot afford to wait to address.
In the drylands of Baringo County, the reality is even more devastating. Maternal mortality stands at 488 deaths per 100,000 live births, far above the national average. For women living in remote communities, miles of harsh terrain can stand between them and lifesaving care. Poor transport, distant health facilities, and limited emergency services turn childbirth- something that should mark
the beginning of life- into a matter of survival.
We have an opportunity to change that story. Together, we can bring lifesaving care closer to women, reach those who are hardest to reach, and ensure that no mother dies simply because she was born in a place too far from care.
Dandelion Africa is actively addressing these challenges through our community-integrated Deep Impact Model.
This year, our objective is to raise KSh 5,000,000 to fund critical, lifesaving maternal health outreach, emergency referral support, mama packs, community health promoter training, and safe motherhood promotion across Baringo County, especially in the Tiaty region.
