End Female Genital Mutilation

Home / Cause / End Female Genital Mutilation

Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a cultural practice rooted in fidelity and discipline. It involves either cutting the vulva, sewing it, or removing flesh, often resulting in chronic pain, infections and birth complications. 200 million women today live with FGM, many of whom have been denied social participation as a result (who.int).

Despite being illegal in Kenya since 2011, around 20% of Kenyan women still undergo FGM. You can help us bring this number down by supporting Dandelion Africa to work alongside victims of FGM, and in speaking out against this violent practice. Your donation will directly aid our campaigns, marches and trainings.
